Head Men's Coach
Randy Westby enters his third season in 2015-16 as head coach of the Minot State University men's golf program. He will also serve as Director of Golf, overseeing both the men's and women's golf programs.
Westby once again coached Kowan O'Keefe to a placement on the Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Men's At-Large Team in 2015. O'Keefe was named to his third straight All-NSIC team finishing second at the NSIC Championship.
In his first season with the program, MSU ranked fifth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference in scoring average, and Westby landed junior Kowan O'Keefe on the 2014 Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Men's At-Large Team.
Westby, who was officially hired by MSU on July 9, 2013, is a Rolette, N.D. native and a 1980 graduate from the University of North Dakota. Prior to getting involved with golf, he served as a Certified Public Accountant.
He has a long history of playing, coaching and involvement with golf in the Minot area as well as the state of North Dakota. Westby is currently the President of the North Dakota Golf Association and is a past member of the Board of Directors at the Minot Country Club and the Rugby Golf Club.
Westby and his wife Debora have two children, Clarissa and Ryan, and reside in Minot.
Head Women's Coach
Spencer Hilde was named Minot State University's women's golf coach in May 2015.
He spent four years with North Dakota State, where he graduated with a degree in engineering in 2011, playing three seasons. Hilde, a Moorhead, Minn., native, started his collegiate career with a bang, winning the Concordia Invite at The Meadows in 2007. He was a three-time Summit League All-Academic Team member. He placed 43r d at the Summit League Championship in 2011 and 49th in 2010.
Hilde is a Senior Project Coordinator for Graham Construction, working for the company for the past four years and the past year in Minot. He and his fiancée, Erica Ziegler, live in Minot.
